WEEK 8 - deeper interations

As mole are mining animals I thought it would be an appropriate animal to look in to to explore a different form to human.  This is also appropriate as mole have become a large problem in gardens and yards in the Colorado area.

Mole concepts
The first concept on the left shows a mole in a similar position to the Celtics logo. He is standing in a relaxed confident position. He has a beard to support him being a miner although it is highly unnecessary and possibly clutters the image.

In design b the characters hand is in an  un-useful position and creates confusion.

Design c shows the character with the pic on his shoulder. This distances the design from that of the Celtics.
However, the shape of his hips questions the rugged many feel of a miner.

Image d shows a mole discovering a nugget and raising his hat. Although his size suggests he is unfit, and more cuddly then threatening

Images e & f .look more like hilly billies then miners due to there long snout and buck teeth. this is coupled with the fact there appearance is a little to rugged.
Over all I have come to realize moles are seen as a pest in most places especially in the Colorado area and may tie in unwanted brand associations.

further mining men concepts

Design one shows a tall man that reflects the height of basket ball players. However his stature and shape suggests he is free of care, and would not benefit the brand as a persona.

Design 2 is a strong man wearing a mining helmet. He has his hands on his hips for confidence, and his thin but shapely legs suggests he is athletic. His simple outline would also be in line with the logos from the rest of the league.

design 3 shows a body shape that wouldn't fit in with the themes of the sport.

Design 4 has an intriguing shape. However his figure is unmuscular and unathletic.  The ball under his arm draws ties to the sport, but there is no real indicator he is a miner.

5,6 & 7 are tall and strong, although they look more like a mindless oaf then talented athletes.

The final design leaning on the NUGGETS text has similar issues to the others.  Despite the design being clear and pleasant to the gaze. The character is unfit and unshapely  and lacks ties to the sport and to his occupation as a miner.

My concepts from week 8 only further press the idea I need to let go of my preconceived ideas I had coming into this project. These ideas being of a cheerfuller miner, who has a slight gut, is slightly aged yet still determined. I feel know these ideas would not embody the brand in a positive manner.
